About Us

Welcome to Curriculum for Tomorrow Ltd

Founded by Bernadette Doherty, a passionate educator and Curriculum Consultant dedicated to transforming the educational landscape. As a neurodiverse individual inspired by David Rendall’s insights on embracing one’s uniqueness, Bernadette has found her niche in creating engaging, relevant, and innovative learning experiences.

Inspired by David Rendall

In his Ted Talk “The Power of Being Different,” David Rendall discusses how our perceived weaknesses can be our greatest strengths when we stop trying to conform to societal norms. This concept resonated deeply with Bernadette, reinforcing her belief that individuality and diversity are powerful assets in education. Her hyperfocus on educational theory and practice allows her to design learning experiences that leverage each student’s unique strengths. This alignment of personal strengths and professional responsibilities not only fuels her passion but also enhances her contribution to education.

Bernadette's Journey

Bernadette’s career began in the care industry, where she observed varying standards of support and care. This experience ignited her drive to leverage education as a tool for meaningful change. Her journey took a pivotal turn at Motive8, a college and charity in Wyke, West Yorkshire. Here, she received invaluable mentorship from Mel and Moy, who helped shape her teaching and curriculum design skills. This experience laid the foundation for her professional ethos, symbolised by the roots in our logo, representing growth, support, and the deep connections that underpin effective education.

Our Services

At Curriculum for Tomorrow Ltd, we are dedicated to enhancing educational practices through a comprehensive suite of services, including curriculum design, audits with action plans, personalised coaching, and impactful CPD initiatives. Our approach aligns with Ofsted’s inspection framework, focusing on intent, implementation, and impact, and we closely monitor ongoing changes to ensure our services remain relevant and effective.

Our curricula are designed to be purposeful and relevant, integrating essential skills and knowledge to equip learners for both societal engagement and personal success. We ensure that learning is not just an academic exercise but a relatable, impactful experience that resonates deeply with students. By incorporating emotional intelligence, communication, and creativity into our methods, we transform abstract concepts into memorable knowledge, facilitating a deeper connection with the material.

We conduct thorough audits to evaluate educational practices and provide detailed action plans. Our ‘Mocksted’ audits simulate Ofsted inspections for curriculum, helping institutions prepare and improve their standards in alignment with current educational requirements. Additionally, our personalised coaching and mentoring services support educators in their professional development, helping them enhance their teaching practices and create more engaging learning environments.

Our training and CPD programmes are designed to ensure continuous professional growth, covering a wide range of topics including safeguarding, digital skills, and socio-economic awareness. We promote an educational environment where learners are taught to understand and respect diverse cultures, fostering a deeper appreciation of the world’s rich tapestry.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Embrace the beautiful diversity of learning styles and unlock the incredible potential of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to completely transform the accessibility and engagement of educational content for every student. Our innovative approach goes beyond the norm, breaking down barriers and making sure that every individual's distinct needs and preferences are not just accepted, but embraced.

Empathetic Teaching and Learning

Bernadette is a strong advocate for learning via empathy, believing that when learners are able to connect emotionally with the material, they are more likely to retain information. This approach leverages the power of emotions and the role of the amygdala in memory processing. When learners feel something deeply, the emotional experience activates the amygdala, which plays a crucial role in forming and storing memories.

By creating educational experiences that evoke strong emotions, we ensure that the knowledge gained is anchored more deeply in the learner’s memory, making it more memorable and harder to forget. This method transforms abstract concepts into relatable, impactful experiences that resonate on a personal level, enhancing long-term retention and understanding.

Neurodiversity Advocacy

As a neurodiverse individual, Bernadette shines as a beacon of advocacy for educational services that embrace and uplift neurodiverse learners. Her journey is a powerful example of how neurodiversity can reveal unique strengths and talents. What some may perceive as a weakness can, in the right situation, become a superpower.

At Curriculum for Tomorrow Ltd, we design our services to equip neurodiverse individuals with the tools and strategies they need to thrive, honouring their individual strengths and viewpoints. We believe in their limitless potential and are committed to guiding them towards success. By celebrating diversity and leveraging the unique capabilities of every individual, we empower them to achieve their fullest potential and reach for the stars.

Cultural Capital for All

At Curriculum for Tomorrow Ltd, we stay current with societal changes and emerging educational needs by continually researching and adapting our approaches. The latest data from The Fostering Network reveals that approximately 108,000 children are in care across the UK, many of whom are adolescents facing unique challenges. Our work is critically important in addressing these needs.

By integrating crucial life skills and knowledge into the curriculum, we provide these young individuals with the necessary cultural capital to succeed.

Cultural capital is essential for all learners, including those in poverty, children from different countries, and other diverse backgrounds. Our targeted support helps bridge the gap in cultural and academic capital, equipping them to navigate and thrive in a complex social environment.

Our Commitment

Curriculum for Tomorrow Ltd is more than just a service; it’s a commitment to pioneering an education system that is reflective of and responsive to the dynamic world we inhabit. By focusing on the unique needs of each learner, particularly those from care backgrounds, we ensure that every educational pathway fosters personal growth and societal integration.
